    • Walk among the ruins that were once the location of the first Olympic Games.
    • Experience the ancient mountain-top sanctuary of Delphi.
    • Cruise through where the Greek coast meets the dramatic mountains.
There's no argument that Athens is a history and culture lover's dream. But some of Greece's most incredible sites sit outside of Athens, making a three-day route the perfect way to see Greece in all of its gloriousness. I love Athens for all it has to offer - but after visiting Olympia and Delphie, I was moved in a different, more complete way. These unique settings helped contextualise our current world and got my mind wondering about the world - how impressive the things we can accomplish can be when we work together - like an entire ancient sanctuary in the middle of a magical mountain setting.
This route takes you to the famous ancient town of Olympia, where you'll discover the ruined structures used in the original Olympic Games when it all began. On the way to Olympia, you'll explore the lovely beach town of Nafplion, and after Olympia, you'll enjoy a great dinner and night's rest in Pyrgos.
Day two takes you North toward Delphi, but not before hitting the relaxed coastal town of Nafpaktos and its beautiful castle. In Delphi, you'll have time to really soak up the unique and impressive ruined sanctuary town perched on a mountain with breathtaking views. The site has numerous locations, and the route allows you to experience it all. You'll stay in Delphi on night two before beginning the path back to Athens.
Day three takes you through some magnificent Greek scenery, the archeological town of Thebes and then through Schimatari for dinner.

Road to the Unique Town of Olympia

On the first day of the route, you'll discover the jaw-dropping archeological town of Olympia, the original location of the Olympic Games. On the way, the route takes you to the coastal town of Nafplion, where you'll explore the impressive fortress and gorgeous old town and enjoy a delicious Greek lunch. Then, it's time for Olympia - a site that has left an impression on me every time I think about it, and every time the Olympic Games come around. You'll get a chance to see the incredible historical site where the first games took place before checking out the Archeological museum. Finally, you'll drive to Pyrgos for dinner and a comfortable night's rest.

The Refreshing Coast of Nafpaktos and the Dramatic Site of Delphi

Day two begins with another decent drive, but the content of the day makes it more than worth it. You'll begin by visiting the coastal town of Nafpaktos and enjoy a coffee along the water and then visit the glorious Nappaktos Castle. On the way to Delphi, the route takes you to a delicious seafood-specialty restaurant perched along the water where you crave seafood the msot. The last part of your day is all about Delphi - my absolute favourite site in all of Greece. While I can't promise you'll feel the same, the sight is indisputably beautiful. You'll get to experience all of the magic archeological features at this incredible site before reflecting on it all with a delicious dinner.

    Mountain Cruising and History Hunting

On day three, you'll experience a bunch of magical, stunning and insightful sights on the path back to Athens. I was impressed by how well each of these sights guided m way back to Athens, all worth visiting and yet perfectly placed without much backtracking. You'll begin exploring a cave and enjoying a hike near Delphi before visiting a monastery and indulging in lunch with a view. After lunch, you'll become even more acquainted with the dramatic mountain ranges of the region before discovering the history and culture of Thebes. In Thebes, you'll get your hit if history at the impressive Archeological museum before walking around town and finally enjoying a final dinner in Schimatari.
