    Castels of Pulglia and a Detour in Matera

    Today, after leaving Bari you are going to visit the magnificent Castel del Monte before paying a visit to the Alta Murgia National Park. You are going to bond with nature and see animals at the park. You will make a stop in the town of Matera, explore the town and walk around its famous Tramontano castle before resigning for the night in a suite with a perfect Puglia setup.

    Castel del Monte

    Right from Bari, drive to the Castel del Monte. There is parking available here, so find a convenient spot just near the entrance.
    There are amazing views inside this castle built in the 1200s by King Frederick II.
    Take a stroll inside and relish and admire the amazing architecture and very welcoming atmosphere. Take about 2 hours to hike up and explore.

    Alta Murgia National Park

    One of the most notable landmarks features in Southern Italy and neighbouring the Castel Del Monte, this will be your next stop.
    The breathtaking views here will take your breath away. Take time to immerse in the fresh air, take the opportunity to shoot those candid photos of the underlying hills and hike around the park.
    Features expansive land rich in stone-walled medieval buildings. This is a perfect spot to relax whether you come alone or with family.

    Braceria Laertina

    You must be tired and hungry from your excavation up in the hills and villages of Matera.
    Drive directly from your parking for about half an hour and get to the Braceria Laertina restaurant.
    While this restaurant is squeaky clean and has a variety, if you are a meat lover you are going to have the best steak/meat in Puglia - at least the rumours have it the chefs here are the best in the region and far beyond!
    Settle here, and eat to your fill ready for the night.
    You will drive from Matera for just over half an hour and arrive here.
